My Sunday Best
my Sunday Best
dressing me
barefoot
at water’s lapping edge
twirling my hair
with heaven’s breeze
gently swaying memories
as waves of comfort
tickle the shore of my soul
wrapping me in the sweet smell
of pines that grandpa planted long ago
standing tall to shade me
here where Rest is free
napping at the water’s edge

A sweet poem.
ReplyDeleteI spent a little time in the hammock this afternoon. Loved the play of words and those pines of grandpas.
ReplyDeletePatricia, it's not Duck Lake but a run-off on the shores of Lake Michigan. The Lake's water was so cold, yes even in late July, we played in the run-off 10 feet from the crystal, cold waters of Lake Michigan. I hear the Michigan side is much warmer.
ReplyDeleteResting near the water is one of summers greatests gifts - beautiful..bkm
ReplyDeleteI have a hammock just like that. :) Beautiful poem and thanks for adding it the Warrior Poet Circle too, Patricia. Be blessed.
