Two Way Street

Lord,
       Lord…

we prepare them for death
with dignity and love

compassion is the air we breathe
from You

who designed us,
called us, to walk this road...

but when our compassioned ones
are sick of compassion

they sometimes steal keys
and drive on the wrong side of the highway

where other lives are changed forever
without any warning

that compassion is not always
a two way street

Henry

"Henry and Adele" by Judith Clay

Henry was a wide-eyed boy
who took the world by storm
much to the chagrin of Mr. Moon
who wouldn’t shine
to Henry’s tune

No matter, though...

this wide-eyed boy
who took the world by storm
content to play for strawberry floats
and scrabbled eggs
laid in his moat
