Daddy

To walk with you
holding hands
lifted by the strength
of your love

To dance with you
on top of your shoes
lifted by the strength
in your pinky fingers

To learn from you
filling your shoes one day
lifted by the strength
of your legacy

Patricia Spreng

Joining today with d’Verse Poetics to honor the memory of all the victims of 9/11

Ever so gently, carefully .. instead of reliving the atrocity, describing the carnage, or abhoring the evil that led to such an act ... I simply felt drawn to the loss within the home after losing a beloved.

  10. Pat, this was a beautiful (but sad) way to approach the subject. Tragedies such as 911 affect so many more than the immediate victims of the event.

  11. My penny thoughts are tenderly wrapping around this beautiful poem, Patricia. I lost my Daddy 61 years ago, this coming 9/18. I was but 12. I loved to dance on his feet, always feeling so loved and cherished. I am so grateful that God is my Abba now and will let me dance on His feet. Thank you for gently expressing the beauty of this relationship, the love and the hope that dwelled there.
