The Widow

She didn’t hear the waiter ask
How would you like your coffee?

Adrift in her unknown,
simplicities were impossibilities.
Her life line had been cut.

The only thing she could feel
was the warmth of the cup
cradled in her hands.

The only thing she wanted
was the warmth of his hand.

She wanted her coffee with him.

Gum on a Bedpost (mid life faith)

like gum on a bedpost

dried hard
and used

in dire need of
or a
waste basket

where is my child
who would pop it back in,
work it out,
and believe it perfectly good?

Letting Go

There is so much man inside,
his frail body can no longer hold all of him.
Life inside of dying.

A treasure of stories lived
in passion, strength and love.
Foolishness of youth colored by the
twists and turns of selflessness
that tumbled into
wisdom of old.

Sacred ground,
this passing.

A letting go,
to gain.
